The Nasu Farm Philosophy

Since our foundation, we have been striving to ensure we realize the basic philosophy of "Contributing to people's lives with chicken eggs."

Some 40 years have passed since our foundation, and we are reexamining our responsibilities with the goal of making a bright future a reality, aiming to create values that can be sustained for a long time to come, by continuing to produce safe and delicious eggs that our customers can safely enjoy, as well as considering impacts on the environment and contributing to the society and local community.

Environmental Consideration

While giving considerations to the surrounding nature, environment, and the local community, Nasu Farm also strives to reduce burdens on the environment by making various efforts, such as the recycling of packing material, the use of insecticide that does not use endocrine disruptor, the conducting of test feeding using eco-friendly feed, and agricultural/animal husbandry recycling.

  • Chicken breed- Pure native Japanese chickens bred by Nasu Farm -
  • The hens bred at Nasu Farm are of pure native Japanese chicken breeds, such as Momiji and Sakura. We conduct strict animal feeding trials on the farm to select the chicken breeds that we raise, in an integrated process, from hatchlings on the farm. This selection is based on various characteristics, including adaptability, resistance to illness and stress, and egg quality.
  • Feed- A blend of Kumamoto rice, non-GMO* corn and other ingredients -
  • The quality of eggs laid by hens is determined to a large extent by the food they eat. At Nasu Farm, we use Kumamoto rice, non-GMO/PHF* corn and other ingredients to make our own blend of chicken feed based on 50 different nutrition calculations, taking age and the effects of seasonal changes into consideration.

    *Non-GMO corn: corn that has not been genetically modified.
    *PHF corn: no agricultural chemicals such as fungicides or preservatives are used after the corn is harvested
  • Breeding- Chickens are bred in a uniform manner on the farm without the use of antibiotics -
  • At Nasu Farm, we believe that hens must be in good health in order to lay hygienic and safe-to-eat eggs. We monitor in detail the health of the chickens throughout their life and administer live vaccines and inactivated vaccines according to their developmental stage. No antibiotics or other medicines are used on the chickens.
  • Water- Natural water directly drawn from underground -
  • Clear underground water (80 m below surface) from Mt. Aso area is drawn and further refined through the BMW technology*. Efforts are made to ensure that our chickens can drink as much fresh water as they need.

  • Prevention of epidemics & hygiene managemenf- Swift adoption of the HACCP system -
  • At Nasu Farm, we have swiftly adopted HACCP, a hygiene management system also used by NASA, at domestic farms. In order to ensure our customers can rest assured and enjoy our eggs raw, we thoroughly implement the prevention of epidemics and hygiene management for our chickens, as well as the hygiene management of the eggs produced. Designated as a farm that adopts HACCP certification standards for farms.

    *Egg packing center -Adopting HACCP in accordance with the Japan Food Safety Verification Organization.
    *Our farm - Promotion of HACCP certification standards for farms as indicated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).
  • Chicken house- Open-type chicken house that utilizes the natural environment -
  • Having direct exposure to natural light and breeze, our chicken houses are maintained clean at all times to take care of our chicken and ensure they grow healthily without any stress.
  • Period of egg collection- Eggs of young chickens collected on the day -
  • Fresh eggs laid by young chickens within 365 days since their first eggs are collected and packed on the day and everyday all year round. This is the reason that we are able to deliver fresh eggs that our customers can rest assured to enjoy raw.

  • Nasu Farm is dedicated to freshness, and we collect and pack the Kumamoto-no-hikari eggs at our farms on the day they are laid, and ship them immediately to Hong Kong.
    * Temperatures during shipment are adequately managed in accordance with the seasons.
